Health Issues

Easy Weight Gain---extremely hard weight loss
I can gain 20 lbs in one month—seriously. This is staying well under 2,000 calories. To lose weight I have to be extremely aggressive; a strict 1,200 calorie diet with cardio 5-7 days a week. Working out for 45minutes at a time.

                                                                                Hair Loss—
I only wash my hair once a week because I get 2 or more handfuls each time and several handfuls when I comb. My hair is limp and thinning, 10 years ago it was thick and full.

Fatigue—
Some days I have so much energy while others I am tired when I wake up and need a nap by afternoon. This increases with stress or sickness.

Bowels—
I am always somewhere between constipation and diarrhea; rarely having a “normal” bowel movement.

Friday I went to an endocrinologist for my thyroid. He rushed me through my appointment, said he didn’t understand why I was there and really had no reason to come back until I was pregnant. When I explained my symptoms he said the famous: Your blood results indicate your thyroid levels are perfect, none of this is due to your thyroid.

Um….Bull Shit! None of this is “Normal” nothing is perfect, I don’t care what those damn numbers show. The ranges of the “normal” zone are so broad how can they prove anything?

So I’m on my own to figure this out.

Currently I am treating my weak immune system and low vitamin d.
The only treatment for the weight gain in constant management. I have to stay on a 1,200 calorie diet. Too many slips and I gain or my weight loss comes to a standstill. I have not figured out the magic number for weight management.

It is very frustrating, it is very disappointing and can be very overwhelming and discouraging.
But like life with a rare tumor, being in a same sex relationship and now this – all you can do is keep fighting for your happiness.

  1. I was very fortunate to come across your blog thru searches on Desmoid tumors. I also had one removed from my calf in 2012. I live in Northern Indiana. Dr Wurtz also my Dr. I go in for another MRI tomorrow. I've been dealing with a lot of hip/thigh pain. I'm afraid of it being another tumor. Look forward to reading more of your blog. When is your next check? Also look forward to seeing the baby news update ;)

    1. How did your MRI go? I would love it if Dr. Wurtz had a patients with desmoid tumor meeting--I have mentioned it before but with HIPPA Laws. Grr! Are you on the Desmoid Tumor FB Pages? My next MRI is actually next week and I am trying not to freak out about it. Pain is an everyday thing so it is hard to judge for me. Hope everything is going well for you and thanks for commenting!
